Bowen Therapy
/Bowen is effective treatment for pain, injury and degenerative disease
The Bowen Technique is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy that is revolutionizing health care worldwide. For more than 40 years it has been used successfully to treat thousands of people suffering from a variety of illnesses.
Physiological responses include normalization of inflammatory processes and healing of injured or degenerated tissue. The work appears not to be limited to musculoskeletal issues.
Most people experience substantial relief after their first session. Recent injury responds extremely fast. Clients often report that complaints other than their original concern have disappeared, including shifts in mood and emotion.

How is it done? Who can be treated?
The Bowen technique is safe to use on anyone from neonates to the elderly and produces lasting relief from pain and discomfort. The work consists of a series of precise moves on specific points of the body. These moves are very gentle and can be done through clothing.
The work is done on soft tissue and stimulates physiological changes & energy flow, empowering the body’s own resources to heal. Research shows that from the very first Bowen moves made on the lower body, the brain waves dip, allowing the body and mind to relax almost into sleep. Such relaxation allows the body to mobilize resources not normally available during our busy waking state. The moves also trigger the nervous system and body to make the adjustments to correct disorders.
There are frequent and important pauses between each series of moves giving the body time to benefit from each. One treatment takes about an hour. Treatments are spaced from 7-10 days apart for optimal results. Three to five treatments are generally recommended for most conditions, each building on the last. Long standing conditions may require longer treatment duration.
Due to the effectiveness of the technique, Bowen is currently being researched around the world by several universities including Yale.
